Blood of the Dawnwalker Has a Release Date — September 3, 2026, and Pre-Orders Are Live Now

Yesterday's Road to Launch Event from Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco confirmed what RPG fans have been waiting months to hear: The Blood of the Dawnwalker launches September 3, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pre-orders are live right now on all platforms including Steam, with the Standard Edition at $69.99 and the Eclipse Edition at $79.99.

That September 3 date puts the game at a genuinely competitive window — Playground Games' Fable reboot is expected this fall, and Phantom Blade Zero lands September 9, just six days later. If Blood of the Dawnwalker delivers on its promise, September 2026 could be one of the strongest RPG windows in years.

What Was Revealed in the Stream

The 30-Day Ticking Clock. The stream's most impactful reveal was the confirmation of the game's central mechanical tension. Coen has 30 in-game days to rescue his family from Brencis — the vampire lord who rules Vale Sangora in the Carpathians. After those 30 days, Brencis intends to perform a coronation ceremony that involves consuming Coen's family. The time limit isn't just narrative framing; it's a real in-game constraint that shapes how you approach activities and decisions.

The Vampire Court. The new story trailer introduced four main antagonists beyond Brencis — each an ancient vampire with their own personality, motivations, and relationship to Coen's situation. The trailer also confirmed Marat, the leader of a human rebellion against the vampires, who kills someone in cold blood while saying "As I see it, we're both far beyond redemption." Morally grey characters across the board — this is not a clean good-vs-evil story.

Anca, a village healer with magical ability, appears to be a key ally and potential romantic interest. The developers confirmed that Coen relies on her knowledge and resources during his mission.

Day/Night Gameplay. The open-world showcase confirmed that the day/night system is even more central than previously understood. During daytime, Coen operates as a near-human — his vampiric abilities are significantly suppressed. At night, they fully emerge. Different activities, different enemies, different NPC interactions, and different approaches to the same objectives exist depending on when you tackle them. Some questlines are only accessible at certain times of day.

Open World Without Traditional Quest Markers. Rebel Wolves confirmed there's no distinction between "main quests" and "side quests" — all activities exist on the same narrative tier. The world is designed so that exploration and story feel continuous rather than compartmentalised.

The Editions

Standard Edition — $69.99: Full game plus a special armour set pre-order bonus.

Eclipse Edition — $79.99: Includes the Digital World Compendium (lore bible), Digital Soundtrack, and Digital Comic Book that expands the story's backstory.

No physical collector's edition was announced at this time, though Rebel Wolves confirmed more details are coming before September.

The September Competition

GamesRadar's Josh West, who visited Rebel Wolves in Poland recently, confirmed that press hands-on with Blood of the Dawnwalker is expected in June — meaning the first real impressions from critics playing it will arrive roughly three months before launch. Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has said he doesn't fear comparisons to The Witcher series, which given that he directed The Witcher 3 is a statement of unusual confidence.

The game won't be on Nintendo Switch 2. No Nintendo version was announced or suggested.
