April 30 Is the Single Biggest Game Release Day of the Year — Here's Your Complete Survival Guide

Six days from now, an extraordinary amount of gaming lands simultaneously. Saros. Invincible VS. Inkonbini: One Store. Many Stories. Bandit Trap. And that's after Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred lands on Tuesday the 28th. If you don't have a plan for the end of April, you're going to make panicked decisions you'll regret. Here is the plan.

Tuesday, April 28 — Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred

Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC Pre-load: Live now on all platforms

The week's first major drop. New region (Skovos), new classes (Warlock confirmed plus embargoed second class), overhauled endgame systems, Mephisto as the central antagonist. If you have an active Diablo IV character at level 100 or near it, you're ready. If you don't, spend the weekend closing that gap — Nightmare Dungeons are still the fastest XP in the game.

Saturday, April 28 — Saros Early Access (Digital Deluxe Only)

Digital Deluxe Edition holders get into Saros 48 hours early — meaning the game opens for them on Tuesday the 28th. If you bought the Deluxe Edition ($79.99), this is your day. Note the collision with Diablo IV's launch: two major games opening the same day.

Wednesday, April 30 — The Big Day

Saros — PS5 / PS5 Pro — $69.99

Housemarque's Returnal spiritual successor. Gold confirmed. Five-year anniversary of Returnal's launch. 45 trophies including Platinum. Early previews calling it a "triumph for PS5." This is the PS5 headline release of April — possibly of the entire spring. If you own a PS5 and have been paying attention to this one, clear your schedule from the 30th forward.

Priority level: Immediately if you own PS5.

Invincible VS — Xbox Series X|S / Xbox on PC / Xbox Cloud — April 30

The 3v3 tag fighting game featuring the full Invincible cast — Invincible himself, Atom Eve, Omni-Man, Battle Beast, Robot, Monster Girl, Allen the Alien, Rex Splode, Bulletproof, and Thula at launch. Open beta in April drew positive reception for animation quality and character accuracy. Xbox Play Anywhere title. Note: currently not confirmed for PS5 despite the open beta being available there.

Priority level: High for Invincible fans and fighting game players on Xbox.

Inkonbini: One Store. Many Stories — Xbox Series X|S / Xbox on PC / Cloud / Game Pass Day One — April 30

Announced at yesterday's ID@Xbox showcase and launching the same day. A cozy narrative life sim set in a small-town Japanese convenience store. Night shift work, customer interactions, quiet moments that compound into meaningful stories. Warm, intimate, the kind of game that becomes a 2026 personal favourite for a specific type of player.

Priority level: Day-one Game Pass download if cozy narrative games are your thing.

Bandit Trap — PS5 / Xbox Series X|S / Switch 2 / PC — April 30

The tactical dungeon crawler announced earlier this year arrives at the end of the month. Designed around trapping and outmaneuvering enemies in handcrafted environments, it sits in the same strategic-action space as Into the Breach and similar titles.

Priority level: Watchlist until reviews land — smaller game that deserves proper critical attention.

Inkonbini and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City (Quest / PC VR) — April 30

TMNT gets a VR exclusive on April 30 through Meta Quest and PC VR platforms. Beat-em-up structure with all four turtles playable. If you have a Quest headset, worth the download.

The Budget Breakdown

If you're not subscribed to any service: Saros ($69.99) + Diablo IV Lord of Hatred (expansion price TBC) + Invincible VS (price TBC) = a significant week of spending. Prioritise what you'll play first, not what you want most. Saros will be full-price forever. Diablo 4 goes on sale regularly. Invincible VS will follow the same pattern.

If you have Game Pass: Inkonbini on April 30 is free. Factor that into your decision-making when buying other titles this week.

If you have PS Plus Extra: Check the catalog — nothing from this week's wave appears to be in the library at launch, but it's worth verifying before purchasing.

The Honest Priority List

  1. Saros — if you have PS5 and any interest in roguelites, bullet-hell, or Housemarque's work, this is first.
  2. Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred — if you have an active D4 character and enjoy the franchise, this is a must.
  3. Invincible VS — if you're a fighting game fan or Invincible fan on Xbox, this is your pick.
  4. Inkonbini — if it's on Game Pass it costs you nothing to try; if not, it's a considered purchase for the right audience.

Six days. Plan accordingly.
